Just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first visit to the United States, Capital University’s Schumacher Gallery has pulled a photographic coup.
The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes documents the start of BEATLEMANIA with a collection of photographs by Life Magazine’s Bill Eppridge. Just imagine a collection of 84 never before published images showing Paul, John, George and Ringo hard at work and play. We especially loved the images from the rehearsal sessions at the Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach before the second live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Check out that cool terry cloth beach wear!
Because classic Beatles songs continue to be fun and popular at so many parties, it was a blast to get the opportunity to take a look at the energy behind the magic through these candid photos.
This unique show runs through March 22, so you have plenty of time to take a look … and did we mention that it’s FREE?
Visit the Schumacher Gallery on the 4th floor of Capital University’s Blackmore Library. The library faces Main St. across right from the Drexel Theater in Bexley. Helpful Hint: Park for free on Main St. directly in front of the library. Visit the website here.
Imagine arriving at (or being whisked away from) your wedding in such a happy yet urban style. Doesn’t this seem like a friendly and unexpected twist for you to enjoy, and your guests to remember? We sure think so, and we LOVE that this is a green option.

It was a beautiful summer night in downtown Columbus for Amber and Danny’s fabulous celebration held at one of the most unique event locations in the city. COSI Columbus has a number of dynamic spaces for parties and receptions, and Amber and Danny made use of some of the best. They exchanged their vows in the Planatarium, hosted cocktails and hors’ durves in the Streets of Yesteryear, staged their photos in Ocean, and then hosted a dinner/dance in the fantastic English Plaza with wonderful views of downtown Columbus.

Some advise when attending the Columbus Bride 2014 Show.
Use the experts. It would be nearly impossible for you to assemble a panel of wedding experts on your own, but feel free to use the vendors at the show like they’re are all yours!
- Get the tux guys to give you the scoop on formal (tux) versus casual (suit or just a vest) options, and the cost breakdown on renting versus buying.
- Ask the reception facilities about parking or room layout and quiz the caterers about a crazy menu item the chef prepared for a fun couple, or the next foodie trend.
- Have the travel and honeymoon experts tell you places to avoid (Hurricane season? Crazy airports? ) or suggest underused places that are gems!
- See if the florist will tell you the biggest bang for your buck flowers.
- Ask the DJ for suggestions for a fun grand entrance song, or some cool trends for dinner music.
- Ask cake bakers about favorite or unique flavor combos.
We all really do love to talk about weddings – and would rather chat than “sell you” … seriously!
We jumped at the opportunity to take an early look at one of the newest event facilities in Columbus which is simply called Vue. Because we have some wedding receptions and events scheduled there soon, we were excited to check it out. The Vue is so cool, and even has a great sized outdoor patio area with an urban feel and a fantastic “Vue” of the Brewery District and the LeVeque Tower in the distance. You and your guests will really feel like a part of downtown Columbus.
The event space (which used to be The Outland Club) has been completely renovated with about 5,000 square feet of space. Catering is handled by Metro Cuisine and Dock580. Vue was created to help support FLIP (Fight-Live-Inspire-Prevent) a valuable community resource dedicated to a cancer prevention mission, so by hosting your event at Vue, you will be supporting a great cause! Take a look at the FLIP website to learn more. And to check out Vue, simply give them a call 614.454.1877 or visit their website at www.VueColumbus.com
