Columbus DJs love Pharrell! Make yourself HAPPY and bid on his crazy hat.

By Night Music DJ and Fizzy Cat Photo Booth | February 28, 2014

Columbus DJs love Pharrell! It seems like Pharrell Williams was everywhere on our dance floor this year.  Get Lucky and Blurred Lines, and now the Oscar nominated Happy … Columbus DJs current fave! Just imagine being a part of all of that by rocking the one and only giant hat that Pharrell wore at the Grammy Awards (and wears in the Happy video).  Someone is going to own this – why not you?

And we are psyched to listen to his new CD, being released March 3 “G I R L”.  What do you think the best tracks will be?

Short North Public Art – A Fun Tour

Touring the Short North public art is a blast! Just imagine this for a fun date, engagement or wedding picture locations, or as an unforgettable “to-do” suggestion for your visiting friends and family.

We all know that Columbus is cool, and the Short North is one of the reasons why.  We can’t wait to check out all of the new public mural art featured on 11 brick facades along High Street in the Short North Arts District.

Here’s more info for you to share and save: This link at tells all about the initiative, the art, and artists.

Last year, one of our favorites was Summer Spray. During it’s 11-week run, a 1,300-square-foot mural was created outdoors on West Goodale Street, between High Street and Park Street, by 10 local artist over a six-week period. The artists also showcased their work in an exhibition space for 10 weeks in the Short North Arts District. Click here to read about the participating artists and view the live mural-making.

Our new favorite is Pride Circles by Lisa McLymont.

It’s located at Stonewall Columbus, 1160 N High St.

A first-of-its-kind public art installation now has a home in the Short North Arts District. “Pride Circles” by local artist Lisa McLymont is the first ever permanent public art installation to be installed in the public right-of-way in the City of Columbus on a sidewalk where the public is invited to traverse the art as they pass.

BuckeyeThon Benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus

By Night Music DJ and Fizzy Cat Photo Booth | February 17, 2014

BuckeyeThon!

BuckeyeThon

BuckeyeThon 2014 at The Ohio State University’s Ohio Union.

It was a super successful dance marathon as students from The Ohio State University raised over $767,000 to benefit the Hematology/Oncology Department of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. We were excited for Stephanie Ransom who was able to get her movie star friend, Kristen Bell (yes, THE Kristen Bell) to donate to the cause that was held at the university’s Ohio Union this past weekend.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is part of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and treats all children regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Although BuckeyeThon has ended this year, you can still donate to the cause here:

START A FUNDRAISER

Help make miracles happen for local sick and injured kids in your community by creating your own fundraiser! You’ll feel good knowing that your celebration or event is helping heal even the tiniest of patients.

UPDATED!

By participating in the Dance Marathon movement, you are helping CMN Hospitals address the urgent needs brought on by the pandemic. Pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen to record levels as omicron races across the U.S. and the recent surge in childhood admissions is just the latest way to stretch hospitals beyond their limits. Emergency departments and intensive care units are stretched with fewer medical staff to care for the sickest patients. On top of treating kids with COVID-19, children’s hospitals continue to care for everything from broken bones to cancer, and all the moments in between.

Now more than ever, kids can’t wait.

A ROOM FULL OF EXPERTS! Read about how to make the most of The Show.

Bridal Show 2014

Some advise when attending the Columbus Bride 2014 Show.

Use the experts.  It would be nearly impossible for you to assemble a panel of wedding experts on your own, but feel free to use the vendors at the show like they’re are all yours!

  • Get the tux guys to give you the scoop on formal (tux) versus casual (suit or just a vest) options, and the cost breakdown on renting versus buying.
  • Ask the reception facilities about parking or room layout and quiz the caterers about a crazy menu item the chef prepared for a fun couple, or the next foodie trend.
  • Have the travel and honeymoon experts tell you places to avoid (Hurricane season?  Crazy airports? ) or suggest underused places that are gems!
  • See if the florist will tell you the biggest bang for your buck flowers.
  • Ask the DJ for suggestions for a fun grand entrance song, or some cool trends for dinner music.
  • Ask cake bakers about favorite or unique flavor combos.

We all really do love to talk about weddings – and would rather chat than “sell you” … seriously!

Vue – New Event Venue in Columbus

By Night Music DJ and Fizzy Cat Photo Booth | December 30, 2013

We jumped at the opportunity to take an early look at one of the newest event facilities in Columbus which is simply called Vue.   Because we have some wedding receptions and events scheduled there soon, we were excited to check it out. The Vue is so cool, and even has a great sized outdoor patio area with an urban feel and a fantastic “Vue” of the Brewery District and the LeVeque Tower in the distance. You and your guests will really feel like a part of downtown Columbus.

Vue Columbus

The event space (which used to be The Outland Club)  has been completely renovated with about 5,000 square feet of space. Catering is handled by Metro Cuisine and Dock580.  Vue was created to help support FLIP (Fight-Live-Inspire-Prevent) a valuable community resource dedicated to a cancer prevention mission, so by hosting your event at Vue, you will be supporting a great cause!   Take a look at the FLIP website to learn more.   And to check out Vue, simply give them a call 614.454.1877 or visit their website at www.VueColumbus.com
